How To Stop Procrastinating

Procrastination affects us all. When someone says they'll do something, and then they never do, that's not exactly procrastination; however, when someone says they'll do something, and then it takes them an enormous amount of time to "get around to it," that is procrastination. One of the reasons why I'm writing this article is to help people to solve the problem of their own procrastination, and maybe even to better handle situations that arise when people they depend on procrastinate tasks which you need them to do for you.

If you have opened this article, put it down and do the task which is most important to you at this moment. Every second you spend reading this article, you are further putting off what needs to be done. Stopping the potentially deadly cycle of procrastination might be just as simple as putting this article back where you found it. But if you're a reader, and if what you've been procrastinating is reading this article all the way through to the end, you're in the right place.

I want to open with a story about a guy named Tyler who married the woman of his dreams and soon discovered that she had access to a wide range of tools that if properly applied could solve a lot of problems for a lot of people, or maybe that story doesn't need to be told because we already know that he already solved the number one problem in his own life by actually marrying the woman of his dreams, which is something that a lot of men fail to do.

Does it matter when you realize that something you can do can help others, if what you'd rather do is sunbathe? No, sunbathe. If you want to relax, knowing full-well that you can be helping others, consider whether or not they ever actually asked you to help them. If people don't know that you have the ability to help them, they probably won't ask you, so you can relax. People really only find out what you're capable of doing for them when you advertise your services, or when they personally witness you do something that they may want you to do for them at some point. You can buy advertisements on TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, some newsletters, and web-sites. You can even create your own web-site with the purpose of advertizing your services, whatever they are.

If you don't know how to create a web-site, you can hire someone to do it for you, or you can study how with tutorials on the internet. If you need money for anything, even for a computer, you can either go onto a government assistance program or you can get a job.

I sure hope you've put down this article by now, and started working on your thing! (ffs)

God could have created everything in an instant, but he spent seven days; that is how the story goes anyway. What can we learn from that story? Maybe there is a reason why some things should be put off, maybe it's because some things have to be done after other things have been done to set stable foundations for the main thing that needs to be done. There could be a reason why you are procrastinating doing something, if the foundation to make that action effective hasn't been laid yet.

Procrastination began in the 1920s when the Rockefellers decided to do it later. They got around to it in the 1930s. And the Great Depression was the foundation which allowed them the opportunity to do the thing they did. Do we need a crisis to happen, to reveal opportunities to take advantage of? Maybe, maybe not; who's to say?

If you are procrastinating at this very moment, maybe put on some enjoyable instrumental music while you continue procrastinating. But if it is finally your intention to stop procrastinating, now is the time to put this article back where you found it. If this article is part of a book, put it on a shelf. If you do not have a shelf for books, I encourage you to get into a situation wherein you have enough shelf-space for your collection of books.

I've always wondered what it would be like to go to Japan, but the fact that I'm 41 and I still haven't gone to Japan isn't due to procrastination, it's due to a lot of factors which have kept me in poverty for most of my life. You can only procrastinate things that you have the resources - financial or otherwise - to do; otherwise, the reason that you're not doing the thing isn't due to putting the thing off, it's due to not realistically and logistically being able to do the thing anyway.

There used to be people who delivered milk to front doors, now "milkmen" are very rare, almost completely extinct. But it's a good idea that should perhaps be revived in some way; I guess services that deliver groceries to you are like that when the grocery you order is milk.

One of the reasons I'm writing this article is because I stopped putting it off. An anti-procrastination article or book should be written quickly.

There are many reasons why people procrastinate. One reason is that they're reading a text about how to stop procrastinating, and that text might be so long that they're spending so much time reading it rather than doing the thing that needs to be done, that one would hope that they actually did learn something from the text. This is such a text. You really should put this text away.

I've never told anyone this, but I've put off doing things that were important to me and/or others. Everyone who knows me, knows that I would never procrastinate, as it's a sin against the Holy Spirit, but yes I've procrastinated, sometimes more than once in the same day.

I probably won't put this article through much or any of an editing process after I finish writing it, and that is due to a number of reasons. For one thing: put this away, and do something productive!

A guy I know - I'll call him Randolph - once played me an audio tape of a song he recorded. The song was very good, but part of the song mentioned that the story the song told took place at a specific bar in my city where bad things happen to people a lot lately. Sometimes it's better to procrastinate going places, if going to those places means going through sketchy areas of a city where you might get jumped.

I remember a time when a guy stole my bike; he was a jerk.

Do not steal bikes.

The key to stop procrastinating, and to finally move forward, is to get a notepad app on your phone, and write a list of 100 things that you should get around to doing. And whenever you have free time, scan over the list with your eyes and do whichever of those tasks you currently feel the most motivation for; then, when the task is complete, erase it from the list, giving space for another task to be written into the list when you realize that there's something else that you should get around to eventually.

Good luck, and God bless!
